Oakham Cafe is a campus eatery that was renovated in 2018 and is now a hub of Toronto Metropolitan University students to study, socialize, and enjoy fairly priced food and drink. I was fortunate to have designed an array of things ranging from the menu to apparel that would be used in the cafe.
The team at Oakham Cafe wanted the menu displayed in a gallery wall, making this functional aspect of the coffee shop feel decorative. An illustration precedes each menu category, making this practical necessity feel like art that’s always hung on the walls.
I developed a pattern of illustrations related to the menu, and used them as a texture for wayfinding and signage in the cafe. They were used on a sign at the entrance to inform customers where to line up upon entering, and a vinyl decal on the pillar in the cafe to direct patrons where to sit.
In addition to the personalized packaging, I also worked on a set of step-by-step illustrations for Sitlo's brew guide. These illustrations instructed customers how to brew their new beans with the phin filter.
Let's make magic together!
